UNCOVERING THE TRUTH

Beacon Forensic, P.C. is an engineering firm specializing in failure analysis, accident reconstruction, Workplace Safety, HVAC Failures and industrial problem solving.

Forensic Engineers and Consultants

Forensic Engineering โ€” the application of scientific methods to investigate accidents and the failure of materials, components, and products.

We specialize in the investigation of trucking and vehicle accidents, product failures, workplace safety matters, HVAC system failures, and complex industrial problems.

Core Disciplines

  • Green Building icon

    Accident Reconstruction

During an accident reconstruction analysis, the expert performs inspections of the scene and involved vehicles to collect physical inspection data, scene documentation, drone based imagery, laser scanning data, and electronic data recorder EDR information, which is electronic data captured from vehicle systems.

These data are evaluated using established engineering principles and scientific methodologies to define the sequence of events, reconstruct the pre accident conditions, and investigate vehicle component failures related to the accident.

    Failure Analysis

The expert performs detailed analyses at our technical center using engineering principles, product and standards research, laboratory testing, and computational modeling to evaluate performance, identify failure mechanisms, and develop well supported conclusions.

Computational modeling is used to recreate system performance and failure conditions efficiently, allowing evaluation of scenarios, confirmation of findings, and clear demonstration of the cause of failure. Our team has experience across a wide range of industries and handles projects of varying size and complexity.

    Industrial Problem Solving

Our expertise, developed across a wide range of industries, supports manufacturers in product recalls and regulatory matters involving multiple agencies, including the Consumer Product Safety Commission CPSC and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration NHTSA. We also support government agencies in technical investigations.

We assist global manufacturers with root cause analysis in matters involving serious injury and significant warranty claims, providing clear, technically supported conclusions for complex industrial and product related issues.

Our Investigation Process

At Beacon Forensic, our investigation process is grounded in scientific rigor, engineering precision, and methodologies that meet the standard for admissible expert testimony. Each step is designed to uncover the root cause of failure with clarity, accuracy, and objectivity.

  • Forensic engineer in a suit presenting technical findings to an attorney during a conference room meeting.

    Initial Assessment

We begin with a detailed review of the accident, analyzing available data, photographs, and witness accounts to define the scope and technical context of the failure.

  • Aerial view of a desert saltwater disposal site with engineers conducting a site inspection.

    Site Inspection & Evidence Collection

Our experts conduct a thorough on-site investigation, documenting conditions, collecting physical evidence, and identifying potential contributing factors. We use high-resolution imaging, drones, and 3D scanning where appropriate.

  • Two forensic engineers inspecting a pump motor in a laboratory, one holding a tool and the other using a camera.

    Testing & Analysis

Collected materials and components undergo laboratory testing to evaluate structural integrity, material properties, and failure modes. Our team applies industry-standard methods and custom simulations for deeper analysis.

  • Close-up of research book binders, including three black and two red volumes used as computational references.

    Code & Standards Review

We evaluate the design, construction, and maintenance of the system or structure against relevant codes, standards, and best practices to identify any deviations or oversights.

  • Photograph of a hydraulic rack with a superimposed outline drawing illustrating a missing locking device and resulting jack drop.

    Root Cause Determination

Using all available data, we reconstruct the sequence of events and apply engineering principles to determine the root cause of the failure or accident. This phase often involves advanced modeling and cross-disciplinary analysis.

  • Expert witness in a suit providing testimony in court before a judge.

    Reporting & Expert Testimony

Our findings are documented in clear, technically sound reports suitable for legal, insurance, or regulatory purposes. When needed, our licensed engineers provide expert testimony in court or arbitration settings.
