The Beacon Forensic Technical Center in Richmond, Virginia is a climate-controlled facility designed to support product inspection, testing, and secure evidence storage. The facility enhances our capabilities in vehicle and trucking accident analysis, mechanical failure evaluation, and product-related investigations. It also supports advanced laboratory imaging and data analysis, including the evaluation of critical information downloaded from event data recorders (EDR) and vehicle infotainment systems recovered from passenger vehicles and heavy trucks following an accident.
CAPABILITIES
Climate-Controlled Evidence Storage
Secure storage in a controlled environment to preserve the condition and integrity of physical evidence for future inspection, testing, and analysis. Evidence is maintained in a manner that supports long-term retention and documentation.
EDR, ECM and infotainment data acquisition
Bench-level data extraction from event data recorders (EDR), heavy truck electronic control modules (ECM), and vehicle infotainment systems without requiring the vehicle to be present. Data is analyzed to evaluate vehicle performance, driver inputs, and system status before, during, and after an accident.
Laboratory Inspection and Testing
A dedicated laboratory environment for detailed inspection, disassembly, and testing of components and products. The facility supports mechanical failure analysis, component evaluation, and documentation of condition and performance.
