Mr. Gary Hayden, P.E.
Mechanical Engineer

Mr. Hayden is a licensed Professional Engineer and holds a Tradesmen Master in Plumbing, Gas and Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC). His primary work is the analysis of equipment and components used in HVAC products and systems, plumbing, swimming pools, fireplaces, fire protection and building envelopes. His work is performed in support of litigation, product recalls and insurance investigations. Mr. Hayden has over 40 years of experience as a mechanical engineer. In 2022 he was awarded the Engineer of the Year for Plumbing and Mechanical Engineer. Mr. Hayden earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University.

HVAC Equipment

Mr. Hayden has worked on projects associated with the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems. He has been involved with heating and cooling of many different types of projects, both new and retrofit, such as aircraft hangars, zoos, garages, manufacturing buildings, office buildings, residential homes and one-room applications. Other projects have pertained to outdoor air conditioning equipment that has been stolen, vandalized or damaged by hail.

Water Leaks

Mr. Hayden has investigated a wide variety of water leaks in residential, commercial, and industrial properties. The flow rates of the leaks have ranged from a few drips per minute to hundreds of gallons per second. The actual fluids have included fresh domestic water for cooking or washing; fire protection water for life safety systems; and chilled water, hot water, or steam for comfort cooling systems or industrial processes. Mr. Hayden has evaluated failures at joints that were soldered, solvent cemented, welded, mechanically fastened, and push-to-connect. He is experienced with blockages and backflows in drains and sewer systems.
